Kids Burchfield-Themed Watercolor Art

A special art activity for kids at the Springville Center for the Arts! Have you ever painted a Sphinx Moth? Or a lightning storm? We’ll use Charles Burchfield’s preferred medium of watercolors to paint his favorite motifs from nature and explore how he animated sound, movement, light, weather, and emotions in his paintings. Fun for all ages! No pre-registration required. A free event in conjunction with Charles Burchfield Day and the Summer-long Art of Zoar Valley III exhibit.

This art event for kids precedes the en plein air art outing in Zoar Valley, “In the Footsteps of Charles Burchfield” (12:30-1:30). While the kids are painting, stop by the Mongerson Theater in the Arts Center for Burchfield Scholar Nancy Weekly’s presentation (11:00-11:30) about the art of Charles Burchfield and his special relationship with nature and the forest.
